Roll cure

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The roll cure is an old treatment method. It can be used as a support when administering liquid or pulpy drugs that are supposed to work in the stomach . The purpose is for the medicine to be evenly distributed in the stomach. Rolling cures were previously used in the treatment of gastric mucosal infections and ulcers .

After taking the liquid or pulpy drug (it can also be a tea) in the empty stomach, the patient takes back, stomach and both sides positions after shorter intervals in order to ensure an even distribution of the ingested drug over the entire mucous membrane . The use of modern drugs has pushed the method into the background.

A roll cure can be very helpful for flatulence : The patient alternates between lying on one side and the other. The gases rise in each case or they are displaced by other intestinal contents following gravity (purely mechanical) and can then be excreted more easily.
