Romain Jacob (born August 18, 1988 in Calais ) is a French professional boxer in the super featherweight division .

Amateur career

Romain Jacob became French Cadet Champion in 2004 and French Junior Champion in 2006. In 2006 he also won the EU Junior Championships in Italy (final victory against Onur Şipal ) and the Brandenburg Junior Cup in Germany . At the Junior World Championships in Morocco in 2006 , he remained medalless.

At the French championships in 2007 he reached a third place, while he fought for the runner-up title at the French championships in 2008.

Professional career

He has been boxing with the professionals since October 2008. In June 2011 he won the French super featherweight championship and defended it four times. In June 2013 he became the new IBF youth world champion with a TKo win against the undefeated Mexican Martin Cardona (17-0) .

Jacob won the EBU European Super Featherweight Championship on February 14, 2014 by beating Devis Boschiero (34-1) on points. After winning the rematch on October 10, 2014, he defended the title on April 24, 2015 on points against former European champion Ermano Fegatilli (30-5) from Belgium. On November 10, 2015, he lost the title to the Spaniard Juli Giner (17-1).
