Romain Lecuyer

Romain Lecuyer (* in Nantes ) is a French double bass player and tango musician.

Lecuyer initially received guitar training from Roberto Aussel before switching to the double bass in 1995. He became a member of the Péril Jazz Quartet as well as the hip-hop group Karré Magik and the funk trio Mix-City . With each of the groups he went on concert tours and made recordings.

In 2001 he traveled to Argentina and studied Tango and Argentine folk music at the Escuela de Musica Popular . He became a member of the Orquesta Escuela de Tango , directed by Emilio Balcarce , with whom he toured Argentina between 2002 and 2004 and recorded the album Bien Compadre . When recording the broadcast 2 por 4 , he stepped u. a. with Nestor Marconi , Julian Plaza , Victor Lavallen and Mauricio Marcelli . He also worked with the guitarist Kelo Palacios and the Trio Confluencia , whose first album was released in 2005 by Acqua Records.

After his return to France, Lecuyer became a member of the Cuarteto Cedrón and Gustavo Gancedo Cuarteto . Since 2006 he has been a member of José Luis Barretos and Ludovic Michels Ensemble Tanguísimo . With the Alter Quintet he recorded an album with Raúl Barboza in 2007 and went on a concert tour through Argentina and Brazil. Since 2007 he has also worked with the musicians Osvaldo Calo and Sébastien Couranjou and the Chilean ensemble Quilapayún . Furthermore, Lecuyer u. a. on Christian Basso's album Pentalpha (2004), the album Tango 3.0 (2010) by the Gotan Project and the album Noche de Carnaval (2010) by Juan Carlos Cáceres .
