Roberto Aussel

Roberto Aussel (born July 13, 1954 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine guitarist and professor of classical guitar.

Life

At the age of seven, Aussel began studying guitar with the renowned classical guitarist Jorge Martínez Zárate . At a young age, Aussel was able to win first prize in several international competitions, including the Radio France International Guitar Competition (1975) by France Musique , in Porto Alegre (Brazil) and the Alirio Diaz competition (Venezuela). In 1999 he received the Konex de Platino award from his home in Argentina.

His repertoire includes guitar music from the baroque to contemporary music and popular Latin American music. He played with numerous renowned orchestras (e.g. London Symphony Orchestra ) and chamber music ensembles. Aussel has been touring the United States of America every year since 1992 and gives master classes in Boston and San Francisco, among others. In 1994 he became professor for classical guitar at the Cologne University of Music .

Numerous famous composers have already written works especially for Roberto Aussel, such as Astor Piazzolla (his first ever work for guitar), Marius Constant , Francis Schwartz , Pascale Jakubowski and José Luis Campana .

He can be heard around the world at important concerts and festivals (including the Guitar Forum Vienna ).
