Jorge Martínez Zárate

Jorge Martínez Zárate (born October 1, 1923 in Buenos Aires , † March 1, 1993 ibid) was an Argentine guitarist and composer .

Life

He studied guitar with María Luisa Anido at the Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires.

Martínez Zárate played in the famous guitar duo with Graciela Pomponio and from 1968 in the guitar quartet. More than thirty tours have taken him to Europe (including Teatro Real and Concertgebouw ) and America (including Carnegie Hall and Palacio de Bellas Artes ). Several composers have dedicated pieces to him: Ángel E. Lasala , Federico Moreno Torroba , Germaine Tailleferre , Carlos Guastavino , Juan Carlos Zorzi , Héctor Iglesias Villoud , Guido Santórsola , Georges Migot and Jacques Cerf . LPs and CDs were created. He played with orchestras such as the NDR Symphony Orchestra , Orchester National de France , Orquesta Nacional de Espana , Buenos Aires Philharmonic and Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional Argentina .

He was Professor of Guitar at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música Carlos López Buchardo in Buenos Aires. His students include Miguel Ángel Girollet and Pablo Marquez , as well as Roberto Aussel , Ernesto Bitetti , Raúl Maldonado , Osvaldo Parisi , Jorge Labanca and Hugo Geller .
