Ángel E. Lasala
Ángel E. Lasala (born May 9, 1914 in Buenos Aires ; † May 1, 2000 there ) was an Argentine composer and pianist.
Lasala studied piano, music theory, solfège and harmony at the La Prensa Conservatory under the direction of María Rosa Farcy de Montal , continued his studies at the Conservatorio Nacional “ Carlos López Buchardo ” and studied composition with Athos Palma .
He performed as a concert pianist and chamber musician before turning to composition. In 1941 his ballet Chasca Ñahui was premiered at the Teatro Colón . The symphonic poem Achalay was awarded the City of Buenos Aires Prize in 1960. For his third string quartet Homenaje a Alberto Williams he received a prize from the Asociación Wagneriana of Buenos Aires in 1961 .
In 1960 he received a grant from the Brazilian government to study in Rio de Janeiro to study Brazilian music. Here he also gave concerts with his wife, the soprano Zulema Castello .
Lasala was professor at the Escuela de Orquesta y Coros del Consejo Nacional de Educación , founded by his teacher Palma , vice-rector of the Conservatorio Nacional and director of the Conservatorio Municipal “Manuel de Falla” , where he taught harmony and chamber music.
