Romain Marchessou

Romain Marchessou (born September 9, 1985 ) is a Monegasque weightlifter.

Career

Marchessou started lifting weights at the age of 13. During a training trip with his club, he came into contact with the sport by chance and immediately found pleasure in it. He joined the weightlifting division of AS Monaco .

He celebrated his first successes in the junior division between 2002 and 2004 with finals at the European Junior Championships. In 2005 he decided to practice his sport professionally. He achieved his greatest successes with two silver medals and one bronze medal in the team competition at the tournaments of the small states of Europe in 2005 and 2007. In 2007 he was also in the final of the World Weightlifting Championships. In August 2008 he participated in the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in part.

His personal record is 253 kg (113 kg in snatch, 140 kg in push). He trains weightlifting with the French national team.
