history

Itzinger Hof in Kieser's forest inventory book from 1684

Itzingen is located on an old Roman road coming from Besigheim . Presumably it belongs to the original Alemannic settlements in Schozachgau . In 1261 a Dominican monastery was founded in Itzinger Hof , in whose church, consecrated to Saint Vincent , the Lords of Liebenstein had their burial place. In 1287 a convent at Itzingen was mentioned in a deed of donation from an Adelheid von Liebenstein. In contrast to the other desolations in the area, Itzingen also existed after the city was founded in the 13th and 14th centuries and was still shown in the Kieser Forestry Camp Book in 1685 . In 1555 the village received market rights , and in 1751 the town hall was rebuilt. When Liebenstein Castle fell into disrepair, the associated Itzinger Hof, which was sold for demolition in 1807, also deteriorated. The still preserved tomb of Conrad von Liebenstein from 1620 was moved to the castle chapel of Liebenstein Castle . The Itzingen district of 107 acres of land went to the Württemberg court domain chamber in 1846/49.
