Roman Jacek Kosecki (born February 15, 1966 in Piaseczno ) is a former Polish football player and has been a member of the Polish Sejm since 2005 .

The offensive midfielder Roman Kosecki took his first steps as a young football player from 1980 to 1983 at RKS Mirków and then moved to Ursus Warsaw, where he played until 1986 and was discovered. The next stops were Gwardia Warsaw and Legia Warsaw . With Legia, he won the Polish Cup twice in a row in 1989 and 1990 and then moved abroad. First he got the Turkish top club Galatasaray Istanbul , where he was under contract for one season in 1991/92. Then he made his way to the Spanish league, where he played for CA Osasuna for a year and then for Atlético Madrid from 1993 to 1995 . In 1995 he came to France, where he first played one season for FC Nantes and then one season for HSC Montpellier . In 1997 he came back briefly to Legia Warsaw, to then let his career run out with the US team Chicago Fire . In 1998 he won the US Cup and Championship with Chicago.

Roman Kosecki made 69 appearances in the Polish national team . In 1988 he made his debut against Romania when he was still playing for Gwardia Warsaw in the second division. He played his last international match in 1995 and was captain of the national team a total of 14 times.

Legia Warsaw fans saw him as the legitimate successor to the great Kazimierz Deyna in the position of midfield director. Deyna had died in a car accident the same year that Kosecki started his career at Legia. For years, Kosecki was one of the most popular football players in Poland. His son Jakub is also a professional soccer player and plays for Legia Warsaw (currently on loan to SV Sandhausen ). As early as 1989, before the first free elections in Poland, he was politically committed by voting in public for the Solidarność electoral community . Even after finishing his sporting career, Kosecki is still active in politics and was elected to the Polish Sejm in 2005 for the Platforma Obywatelska . He was a candidate on the platform's Warsaw list and received 4,395 direct votes. In the early parliamentary elections in 2007 he ran again on the Warsaw list and received 6,847 direct votes, so that he will also work as a member of the Civic Platform in the new Sejm.
