Peter Achinstein

Peter Achinstein (born June 30, 1935 in New York City ) is an American philosopher and historian of science.

Life

Achinstein studied at Harvard University and graduated with a BA in 1956 . Also at Harvard, he made his MA in 1958 and his Ph. D. in 1961. He specializes in philosophy of science and is also recognized in the field of the history of science .

Achinstein has received teaching assignments and fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation , the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the National Science Foundation (NSF), and holds professorships at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem noticed.

Achinstein taught at Johns Hopkins University for many years and has been a professor at the Center for History and Philosophy of Science at Yeshiva University since January 2009 .

He is married and has two children.
