Roman Otschanowitsch Chagba ( Russian Роман Очанович Хагба ; born July 23, 1964 in Gudauta ) is a former Russian football player of Abkhaz origin.

life and career

Roman Chagba began playing professional football at Dinamo Sukhum in the Soviet third division . In 1985 he joined the first division club Torpedo Kutaisi , where he remained until 1986. In the following season he played only briefly with Gurija Lantschchuti , then he returned temporarily to Dinamo Sukhum. Also in 1987 he was in the squad of Dinamo Tiflis , in 1988 with Metallist Kharkov .

At both clubs, however, he could not prevail, so that he returned to his old club Dinamo Sukhum in Abkhazia in 1988. In the following season he succeeded with his club promotion to the Pervaya League , the second Soviet league. Roman Chagba became a regular player, played a total of 110 games by 1991 and scored 36 goals, making a significant contribution to keeping his club up. When the Soviet Union dissolved, Abkhazia plunged into civil war, and his club could no longer maintain regular gaming operations.

Chagba then moved to Schemchuschina Sochi in the newly founded Russian league, where he met his former teammate Gennadi Bondaruk . He stayed there until 1993, after which he worked at Torpedo Adler (then the second team of Schemchuschina Sotschi), the Malacca FA in Malaysia and at Textilschtschik Barysch.

In 1997 he returned to Shemchushina Sochi, but only played in the second team. In 1998 he let his career at Lokomotiw-Taim Mineralnye Vody end.
