Roman Edward Szewczyk (born March 18, 1965 in Bytom ) is a former Polish football player .

Roman Szewczyk began his career at Szombierki Bytom and played from the 1982/83 season in the Polish first division, in which he scored 23 goals in a total of 185 appearances. In early 1989 he moved to Śląsk Wrocław for a year . He then won the Polish Cup in 1991 and 1993 with GKS Katowice .

In 1993 he went to FC Sochaux in the second French league, before moving to SV Austria Salzburg in 1996 for free . With Austria Salzburg he won the Austrian championship and the Supercup in the 1996/97 season . In the 1999/2000 season , the trained defender led his team into the ÖFB Cup final, which was just lost to the Grazer AK on penalties . The central defender performed well into the 2003/04 season before he had to quit professional football due to his age and numerous injuries.

From 2004 to 2006 Szewczyk played as an amateur player for UFV Thalgau in the 2nd Salzburg Regional League North. In the 2006/07 season he acted as a youth coach at FC Red Bull Salzburg .

In the 2007/08 season Roman started playing again at FC Bergheim in the 1st class north in Salzburg and thus contributed to the promotion of the Salzburg Nordstädter to the second regional league.

In addition to his job as a scout for Red Bull Salzburg, he has been a coach in Bergheim near Salzburg since the 2008/09 season. All coaches enjoy the highest reputation within the Bergheim team and thus represent an important foundation of the local football club.
