The Romance Research , which was founded by Karl Vollmöller in 1883 , is one of the oldest and most traditional scientific publications of Romance studies . Volume 131 was published in 2019.

The magazine, which is published today by Franz Lebsanft (Bonn) and Cornelia Ruhe (Mannheim), is published as a quarterly by the Frankfurt publisher Vittorio Klostermann . The range of topics includes the entire Romance language and literature studies. One focus is on contributions to French, Italian and Spanish. However, other Romance languages ​​and literatures are also taken into account. The Romance research publishes original works, which are peer- reviewed by an international scientific advisory board , and reviews. The languages ​​of publication are the Romance literary languages, German and English.

Romance Research, which is now also available on the Internet, has been one of the leading linguistic and literary studies journals in Romance studies since its inception. They are distributed worldwide and are used as a publication medium by Romanists from numerous countries.

The journal is supplemented by the series Analecta Romanica founded by Fritz Schalk .
