The Rome Independent Film Festival (RIFF for short) is an international film festival that has been held in Rome since 2000 .

history

The festival takes place in the new Aquila cinema and in the Casa del Cinema a Villa Borghese. The aim is to promote independent filmmaking, with special attention paid to Italian debut films. In addition to promoting high quality Italian cinema abroad, the festival regularly organizes events and meetings with young directors and screenwriters. It is carried out with the support of the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali and the Direzione generale per il cinema - Department of Culture, Art and Sport of the Lazio Region and the City of Rome - Department of Cultural Policy. In 2012, 120 films from 40 countries were selected, including several Italian productions such as Aspromonte and Ristabbanna .
