action

15-year-old Sarah had a difficult childhood as she was abused by her stepfather . She also injects heroin in order to forget these traumatic events. She teams up with young Spike, and through minor crimes and rip-offs, they get the money they need to survive and get the drugs . Spike is a musician and hopes that he will soon have the breakthrough and that their situation will improve. Sarah wants to blackmail her birth father with alleged photos showing him trafficking in drugs. The plan fails, the father tries to kill both of them, but they escape. Sarah wants to get to a secret hiding place of the father's money that she had found three years earlier. On the way there, they spend the night in a motel . In a newspaper, Spike finds an ad for a band for an audition that goes out successfully for him. On the way there, however, Spike and Sarah get into an argument, whereupon Spike leaves them on the side of the road. A taxi driver stops and offers to take her with him for free. Reluctantly, she climbs into his car. At first he is friendly, engages Sarah in a conversation and asks her many questions. Sarah, tired and exhausted, tells him to stop and let her out. The driver drives into a lonely area and beats and rapes her under a bridge . When Spike later comes into the motel room, he finds Sarah badly injured in the shower.

Spike takes her to a hospital and nervously waits for the doctors to react. He asks the nurse if he can see her. She replies that due to the legal regulations, he has to wait until her parents, whom she has already called, are there. He secretly sneaks up to her and comforts her. The nurse asks him to leave the room and as he waits in the hallway, he finally falls asleep. When he wakes up, two policemen stand in front of him, one of whom is Sarah's father. They arrest him for rape. During the trial, the judge will give him another chance if he would plead guilty. Spikes attacks Sarah's stepfather, screaming that he destroyed Sarah and that he is to blame for everything. After the room calms down, Spike pleads not guilty and is sentenced to one year in prison. When Sarah is about to cut herself in her room, her stepfather walks in. Although she is still mentally and physically injured, he tries again to touch her immorally, but she defends herself and demands that he leave the room. Finally he goes.

A year later: Sarah is woken up by a knock on the window that night. Spike was released. He stands in front of the window and tells her to pack her things and run off with him. Then suddenly her stepfather comes into the room. Spike can still hide and then hears Sarah biting her father in the ear to make you let go of her. Spike hits the window and orders the father to stop immediately. A fight ensues in the house, in which the stepfather tries to strangle Spike. Sarah then shoots her stepfather. She eventually tells her mother that he had abused her for years. Spike and Sarah take his car and head to Portland. They destroy it under a bridge, leave it behind and continue on foot.

Spike tries himself as a hustler and rips up a man. He ties him to the bed, steals his wallet and receives money from the stolen credit card. You spend the night in an expensive hotel. When the money runs out, they have to leave the hotel and try to stay afloat by petty theft and swindles. They go to Spike's home to say goodbye to his mother as they want to go to California. Then they find shelter in an abandoned hotel.

Meanwhile, the mothers of the two visit and talk to each other, Sarah's mother learns where Sarah and Spike are staying. She drives there with her ex-husband in the police car. Sarah and Spike escape and are both chased. Sarah's father alerts his colleagues. They flee on a bridge and both sides are blocked by police officers. Spike tells Sarah again how much he loves her. He then raises his arms to surrender, but the father shoots Spike. Sarah runs to the edge of the bridge and jumps into the depths.
