The Rompetrol Group NV is a multinational company based in Amsterdam . The company is listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Rompetrol is currently headed by Shanat Raschidowitsch Tussupbekow ( CEO ). The company owns the petroleum refinery in Năvodari , Romania. The company was founded in 1974. Rompetrol currently produces around 14,000 tons of crude oil per day. Furthermore, Rompetrol acquired the Vega Refinery company in 1999 . In December 2005, Rompetrol acquired the French oil company Dyneff SA and thereby took over the infrastructure of Dyneff's refineries and petroleum filling stations. The Rompetrol company is 100 percent controlled by the Rompetrol Holding SA .

In August 2007 the Kazakh state company KazMunayGas acquired 75 percent of Rompetrol from Dinu Patriciu for around 2.7 billion US dollars.
