Ronny Meyer (engineer)

Ronny Meyer (born September 6, 1963 in Darmstadt , real name Ronald Meyer ) is a German civil engineer , author , television presenter and musician .

Life

Early Years (1989-2001)

During his studies at the Technical University in Darmstadt, Ronny Meyer built his first house in 1989 in Nieder-Modau near Darmstadt. His monthly magazine reports on this house construction in 1993 were summarized in 1994 by the Stuttgarter Fachschriftenverlag in a self-made special issue and published as a book at the end of 1994 under the title "A whole house at half price" . This was followed in 1995 by the book “The 77 Steps to a Self-Built House” , parallel to this, his second self-help house in Roßdorf near Darmstadt.

Since 1992 he has worked as a freelance civil engineer. This was followed by other books such as the guidebook series “Do It Yourself Meyer” , “Build it Yourself: Interior Fitting” , “Building According to the Hot Dog Principle - Our Farewell to Oil and Gas” and “Come with us in the energy saving country” . Climate change and rising energy costs prompted him to put self-construction aside in 2000 and concentrate exclusively on professional, energy-saving construction and modernization . In the same year he built his “EnergieeinsparHaus” (4-liter house). The book of the same name was published in 2001. Ronny Meyer's nationwide building physics and energy-saving training courses for architects, craftsmen, building financiers, real estate agents and building materials dealers became more numerous, as did the appearances at building owner information days. Also in 2001 his television work began with the advice program "Service Wohnen" from Hessischer Rundfunk .

Climate change and energy saving (2002–2012)

From 2002 to 2003 Meyer was a temporary employee of the Hesse Impulse Program ("Hessian Energy Saving Campaign"), a program run by the Hessian Ministry of Economics. The main tasks were public relations, events, building material dealer training courses, and the field test "1,000 energy passes for existing Hessian houses".

"Ronny and the construction workers" and "Meyers Rockhaus" are Ronny Meyer's music projects. In doing so, he tries to approach the subject of "building and modernizing" musically. His music CDs are mainly recorded with studio musicians. In 2004 and 2005 there were performances with his live band.

Since 2007, Ronny Meyer has been organizing energy-saving shows and information evenings across Germany, which take place regularly in halls and halls. The focus of the approximately two-hour program is the energetic modernization of buildings for private households. Topics are: "Energy advice", "Insulating the building envelope", "Windows", "Innovative building technology", "Financing with subsidies, grants and saved energy costs". Guests and experts are local energy consultants and building experts. In the run-up to the energy-saving shows and information evenings, special energy-saving supplements appeared in the respective daily newspapers, in which he describes the benefits of energy-saving for citizens and the environment and gives instructions on energy-saving construction and modernization.

From 2010 to 2012, on the initiative of Ronny Meyer, E-SCOUTS ("Energy Saving Scouts") were trained in around 50 German districts together with energy consultants, who carry out an energetic assessment of buildings. These are upstream of the energy advice and give the property owner an orientation as to whether an energetic modernization is worthwhile or not.

The modernization offensive (2013 - today)

In 2013, Ronny Meyer added the subjects of "comfort / comfort", "security" and "accessibility" to his training courses and information events and changed the name "E-SCOUT" to "modernization advisor". Also in 2013, Ronny Meyer, together with the master carpenter Bärbel Hotz and other craftsmen, initiated the regional public information campaign “Modernization Offensive Rhine-Main”. Based on this model, the “Groß-Gerau District Modernization Offensive” was developed as an independent campaign at the beginning of 2014, followed by the “Mayen-Koblenz Modernization Offensive”.

When the federal government called for a “modernization offensive” in Section 1 of the Energy Saving Ordinance of May 1, 2014, Ronny Meyer and his team made the decision to establish further regional modernization offensives together with existing regional initiatives.

Since May 2015, Ronny Meyer has mainly been commenting on negative media reports on the subject of "thermal insulation" and "energetic modernization" in his blog.
