The Roosevelt Academy in Middelburg is the smallest university college in the Netherlands. It is a global honors college and part of the University of Utrecht (Netherlands).

registration

200 students are admitted each year, with around two thirds of the students from the Netherlands and one third of the students from around the world. The degree corresponds to that of a Bachlor degree from University College Utrecht (UCU). Up-to-date information on the registration process can be found on the official Roosevelt Academy website.

curriculum

Students take courses in all three core subjects, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. The language of study is English.

Exchange programs

There are partnerships with universities that allow students to take part in an exchange program in their second or third year. RA students can spend their semester abroad at a variety of universities around the world via the exchange network of the University of Utrecht and have it fully credited to the Roosevelt Academy. There is also a direct exchange program with the University of Nebraska in Kearney, USA and Glendon College in Toronto, Canada.

campus

University building

The university buildings are located in the center of the city. The main building is the old town hall of Middelburg, which is located on the market square. The non-Gothic part of this building is called Franklin (after the first name of the US president of the same name). There is also the Theodore Building and the Eleanor Building, which is on the other side of the street. This is where all of the RA's premises are located, including the offices, lecture halls and the administrative section.

Housing options

The students are contractually obliged to live in the university's own apartments. The campus consists of Bagijnhof, Roggeveenhof, Driewegenhof and Koestraat. Occasionally students also live in the so-called Zuidsingel, Zusterstraat and Nieuwe Haven. The Bagijnhof consists of 13 converted houses, each accommodating 10 or 16 people and sharing a kitchen corner and a living room. In Driewegenhof, three students share an apartment, while in Koestraat and Roggeveenhof the students live individually and have their own bathroom and small kitchen area.

Library, bookstore and academic journal

The official academic bookstore of the Roosevelt Academy De Drvkkery ("The Printing House ") is located on the market square near the university. Students also have free access to the Zeeland Library (the largest library in the province) and the Utrecht University digital library .

The Roosevelt Academy annually publishes its own academic journal, Ad Astra (To the Stars), which publishes outstanding work and essays by its students.

The Roosevelt Academy Student Association (RASA) is the constituted student body and organizes a variety of activities of all kinds for its students.
