location

The Rosa-Albach-Retty-Hof is located in the Döblingen cadastral community of Oberdöbling . The residential complex was built along Billrothstrasse 42-48.

Architecture and art

The municipal housing was built between 1973 and 1975 on a site that had previously been almost undeveloped. The building is a combined residential and commercial building, with the commercial tract in front of the residential building. The business line on Billrothstrasse was built at ground level, the T-shaped, adjoining residential wing as a five- or six-storey building. All parts of the building were provided with flat roofs. While stairs 1 to 3 and the business line run parallel to Billrothstrasse, stairs 4 were laid out at right angles to the main building as a garden wing. The loggias and windows of the street-side facade of the main building were combined into strips with exposed aggregate concrete slabs. In the courtyard, the facade of the main building was structured by double bay windows. The wing of the building on staircase 4 was also structured by loggias on the south and east-facing loggias.

The municipal housing is decorated as part of the art in architecture with the ceramic relief "Döblinger Sonnenrad" by Trude Diener-Hillinger . In the complex there is a bird fountain decorated with a mosaic by Elisabeth Eisler (art in architecture). The community building was named after the actress Rosa Albach-Retty .
