Rosa Münch

Rosa Münch (born May 10, 1886 in Basel ; † January 8, 1974 there ) was a Swiss politician.

Life

Rosa Münch was born as the daughter of the painter Jakob Eduard Siebenmann and his wife Barbara, b. Runs, born.

In 1906 she became a saleswoman at the General Consumverein (ACV) Basel. She became a member of the Basel Workers' Association, of which she was president from 1912 to 1921; later she was also a board member of the Social Democratic Party - Women (SP-Women).

In 1917 she was a co-founder of the women's commission of the ACV, from which the successor organization Genossenschaftlicher Frauenverein ACV both Basel emerged and whose presidency she held from 1938 to 1959.

In 1922 she became a member of the Swiss Consumer Cooperative Women's Association , where she was president from 1929 to 1943.

From 1943 to 1965 she was a member of the board of directors of the ACV and from 1947 to 1965 of the Verband Schweizerischer Konsumvereine (VSK).

She campaigned for political and economic equality for women.

In 1908 Rosa Münch married the tram and trade unionist Jacob Münch.
