Rosa Schaffer (* around 1848; † July 9, 1931 in Vienna ) was an important Austrian cosmetics entrepreneur during the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy .

biography

Her address was Hammerschmidtgasse 18 in the 19th district, where the cosmetic products were also manufactured. The main shop was at the exclusive Kohlmarkt 6 in the 1st district. There was another general depot at Maximilianplatz 5 (today Rooseveltplatz) in the 9th district. She produced the well-known "Ravissant" preparations, which enjoyed great popularity not only in the boudoirs of high society, but also abroad. The brand was protected, its products were patented, and it was even given kk privileges .

She has received numerous awards for the quality of her beauty products. She was a royal Serbian court and chamber supplier and an honorary member of the Chemieco Fisico in Palermo . She received the honor of a lady patroness of the Order of Saint Peter with the honor cross. The motto of her company was accordingly “ Beauty is wealth, beauty is power. "

As an entrepreneur, she cleverly used the power of advertising to market her products. She had advertisements placed in most newspapers to appeal to a wide audience. Colored advertising posters were also designed, which today still fetch high prices as collectibles.
