Rosa Sijben

Rosa Sijben (* 1988 in Alkmaar , North Holland Province ) is a Dutch performance artist and sculptor .

life and work

Sijben studied fine arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam from 2006 to 2012 . For her thesis, Getting Stuff Done , she received the Academy's Fine Arts Award . Sijben received several scholarships that enabled her to stay in Switzerland , the Netherlands, Italy , France and Germany . As a scholarship holder in Mönchengladbach , she realized the artistic action Things Are Happening , which she documents in a booklet of the same name.

In 2014 the exhibition Things You Know took place at the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen . Among other things, Sijben placed a collection of materials on a construction site and recreated it as a sculptural installation in the exhibition space. The changes in the amount, composition and arrangement of the materials were tracked weekly in the exhibition.
