Rosalía Polizzi

Rosalía Polizzi (* 1934 in Buenos Aires ; † October 25, 2011 there ) was an Italian - Argentinian documentary filmmaker .

Life

The daughter of a Sicilian and a Spaniard went to her father's home country after completing her studies (graduating from the “Conservatorio nazionale di musica e arte drammatica”) on a grant from the “Società Dante Alighieri”, where she studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia from 1961 and worked as an assistant to Franco Rossi . From 1965 she worked for the RAI , for which she made numerous scientific contributions (e.g. for "Enciclopedia della Natura" or "Habitat") and worked as a script girl for feature films. From 1966 onwards she turned largely to social issues, dealing with problems of workers and women; In 1989 she directed Ardente pazienza based on the play by Antonio Skármeta . In 1994 she made her debut as a feature film director with Anni Ribelli , filmed with autobiographical features in Buenos Aires and shown at the Venice Festival . Riconciliati followed in 2001 . Several of her later documentary works dealt with emigration : Cartoline dall'Argentina , Non dimenticare Buenos Aires , Testimoni numero uno .
