Rosalie Ham (born January 13, 1955 in Jerilderie ) is an Australian author who gained international fame for her debut novel The Dressmaker (2000) and its adaptation in 2015.

Life

She spent her youth and childhood in her birthplace Jerilderie, in 1972 she completed her education at Margaret's School in Berwick. She used the following years to travel around and work in various professional fields. She started studying in the mid-80s and graduated from Deakin University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Education . In 2007 she obtained a Masters in Creative Writing from RMIT Melbourne .

Rosalie Ham has published three novels since 2000, her debut novel "The Dressmaker" in 2000, "Summer in Mount Hope" in 2005 and "There should be more dancing" in 2011.

Her books have sold over 50,000 copies so far, and she became internationally known for the film adaptation of her first novel in 2015 with Kate Winslet in the lead role.
