Rose Troche

Rose Troche (* 1964 in Chicago ) is a director , television producer and screenwriter .

Life

The daughter of Puerto Rican parents grew up in Chicago and attended the film academy for a short time. Her career began with short films and videos. She made her debut as a director in 1994 with the film Go Fish , a lesbian love story. The film premiered at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival . She produced the film together with her co-writer Guinevere Turner , who was also her partner at the time. In 1996, the two received the Lambda Literary Award in the Drama category. Her next feature film Cross and Queer (original title: Bedrooms & Hallways ) was made in 1998 and dealt with male sexuality . She also directed the film The Safety of Objects (2001), for which the short stories were adapted by AM Homes and which dealt with heterosexual love in suburbs.

Her work in television is as extensive as her work in the classic film genre. She directed an episode of the HBO- produced series Six Feet Under and was a director and writer on Showtime-produced series The L Word. When women love women , told about lesbian friends in Los Angeles . She was initially employed there as a production employee, but was then promoted to co-producer of the series. Her partner is Cherien Dabis , who joined the series' writing team in Season 3. Roche has also expanded her writing and director experience by writing an episode for the television series South of Nowhere , directing one episode of Touching Evil, and directing two episodes for Vida .
