The Rose de Resht (syn.Rose de Rescht, Gul e Rescht, Gul e Resht) is a more frequent blooming Portland rose , thus an old rose , with purple-red, strongly double and almost beguilingly fragrant flowers that are somewhat hidden in the foliage. Their origin is highly controversial. According to most sources, it was imported to England from Iran by Norah Lindsay in 1940 , but it is definitely not a Persian wild rose, more of French ancestry; as a typical Portland rose, it is derived from the autumn damask rose , which is why it is often referred to as the damask rose, even though it is more often in bloom.

The upright, very frost-hardy and disease-free shrub (1 m high and wide) in the best possible location, sprouts late. It also thrives in partial shade and is particularly suitable as a standard rose for keeping in a bucket. The strong fragrance predestines the flowers for use in the kitchen; In Northern Iran this rose was used for rose oil production for a long time.
