Bishop Rosemarie Köhn

Rosemarie Köhn (born October 20, 1939 in Rathenow ) is a Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran theologian and bishop emeritus.

Köhn, who had a German father and a Norwegian mother, has lived in Norway since 1946. She studied at the University of Oslo and graduated in 1966 with the candidate exam. She then worked at the university, first as a Hebrew teacher and assistant, then as a scholarship holder, and from 1976 as a lecturer. From 1989 to 1993 she was the rector of the Practical Theological Seminary. In 1969 she was one of the first women pastors to be ordained in Norway .

In 1993, Köhn became bishop of the Hamar diocese in the Norwegian state church from the royal government , after she had landed in third place in the Terna in the previous consultative vote in the diocese council . When she was introduced on May 20, 1993, she was the first female bishop in Norway and (after Maria Jepsen and April Ulring Larson ) the third Lutheran bishop in the world. In 2006 she gave up her post for health reasons.

Köhn was one of the first bishops of the Norwegian Church to ordain openly living homosexuals.

In 2004 she was accepted by King Harald as Commander in the Order of Saint Olav .
