Rosemarie Karger

Rosemarie Karger (* 1958 as Rosemarie Masannek ) is a German urban water manager . She has been President of the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences and Professor of Water Supply and Sanitary Technology since 2014 .

Career

Karger studied civil engineering and surveying at the University of Hanover . The doctorate to Dr.-Ing. took place in 1996 at the same university. At first she worked as a research assistant and teacher for special tasks at the University of Hanover; This was followed by independent work as an engineer. In 1996, she accepted a call from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture at the Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel University of Applied Sciences - today's Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences (University of Applied Sciences Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel) - as a professor for water supply and sanitary technology in the supply technology department, today's Faculty of Supply Technology.

As head of the Institute for Water Technology , Karger dealt with the topics of sanitary technology, water meter systems , water demand forecasts and efficient water use . One of their most extensive research projects was the planning of water systems for the economy cars of the ICE 3 . Until 2002 she was the deputy chairwoman of the VDI committee for guideline 6024 “Water saving in sanitary technology”. She is currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the North German Water Center. Karger has been Vice President of the university since September 2004 and headed the research, development and technology transfer department. With effect from March 1, 2014, she was elected first president of the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences .
