The Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences ( Ostfalia until 2009 University of Applied Sciences Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel ) is a 1971 founded University of Applied Sciences in the eastern Lower Saxony . It has locations in Salzgitter , Wolfenbüttel (Campus A and B ), Wolfsburg and Suderburg . The international name of the university is Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences .

history

The predecessor was the State Engineering School Wolfenbüttel since 1928, which merged with two other independent institutes to form the Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel University of Applied Sciences in August 1971. At the Salzgitter location, the former departments F (media, sports and tourism management) and T (transport and traffic management) were merged to form the new Karl Scharfenberg faculty . Since September 1, 2009 it has been called "Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences" (after the recently revived historical landscape name Ostfalen ). In addition, the new Faculty of Commerce and Social Work was founded in Suderburg in the 2010 summer semester. The former Braunschweig site with the social affairs department was integrated into the Wolfenbüttel site in the 2010 winter semester. With 13,086 students, it is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Lower Saxony. In the 2005 university ranking of the job and business magazine “ Karriere” , the technical college took 7th place in Germany in the field of engineering.
