The Roser-Nélaton line is an imaginary line for determining the position of the greater trochanter (large hillock) of the thigh bone (femur) in the pelvis .

The line runs from the anterior superior iliac spine of the iliac bone to the ischial tuberosity of the ischium . With the thigh flexed at 45 ° , the tip of the greater trochantor is usually on the middle of this line. In a dislocation of the hip or femoral neck fracture is palpated to Trochantor major outside this line.

The Roser-Nélaton line is named after the German surgeon Wilhelm Roser and the French surgeon Auguste Nélaton .
