Rosetta Loy

Rosetta Loy (* 1931 in Rome , Italy ) is an Italian writer .

Life

Rosetta Loy is the daughter of an engineer from Piedmont and a Roman woman. She is the youngest of four siblings and grew up in a wealthy Catholic bourgeois family. She wrote her first little stories at the age of nine, but it was not until she was over 40 that her first novel La bicicletta was published by Einaudi in Turin in 1974 , for which she received the Premio Viareggio Opera Prima . Other novels, some of which have won awards, have been published in Italy over the past 30 years and have also been translated into other languages.
