Corruption affair

In March 2009, the main initiator of the award, Giuliano Soria, was arrested because of the risk of blackout. The literature professor was accused of misappropriating public funds and mistreating a domestic worker. Soria has partially admitted the use of literary prize money for his private residence in Turin. The award ceremony in 2009 was canceled and the award has not been awarded since then.
