Daniele Del Giudice

Daniele Del Giudice (born July 11, 1949 in Rome , † September 2, 2021 in Venice ) was an Italian author and professor .

life and work

Daniele Del Giudice studied literature . In 1983 he published the novel Lo stadio di Wimbledon / The land as seen from the sea . As an airplane pilot and traveler, Daniele Del Giudice made a long journey to Antarctica in 1990 . His Taccuino Australe / Southern Diary appeared in six episodes in Corriere della Sera and the Frankfurter Allgemeine . Between 1991 and 1995 he worked with mathematicians and physicists in a research group led by Claudio Magris at the Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati in Trieste. In 1997 he exhibited at the documenta Xin Kassel made an installation on the arts of sight .

Del Giudice was Professor of Theater Studies at the Università Iuav di Venezia .

At the end of July 2021, seriously ill for many years, he was awarded the Premio Campiello for his life's work; a few weeks later he died in Venice at the age of 72.
