Guido Ceronetti

Guido Ceronetti (born August 24, 1927 in Turin ; † September 13, 2018 ) was an Italian aphorist , poet , writer , dramaturge and journalist .

Career

He began his journalistic career after the end of the Second World War at the daily newspaper La Stampa , where he worked until his death. It was characteristic of his work as a writer that he collected and published extensive and previously unpublished material. He can be called a chronicler of modern culture.

In 1970 he founded the puppet theater Teatro dei Sensibili together with his wife Erica Tedeschi. He initially only performed the pieces he developed in Italian, French, Hebrew and other languages ​​in private circles, which included the authors Montale , Bassani and Soldati , the director Fellini and the publisher Einaudi . After founding the Teatro dei Sensibili , he went on trips with his poetic plays for adults and children, in which music plays an important role, and showed them in closed rooms, but also in parks and on the street.

Ceronetti was a profound translator of ancient authors such as Catullus , Juvenal and Martial . Ceronetti translated parts of the Bible into Italian, a. a. the Song of Songs , the Psalms , the Book of Job and the Book of Ecclesiastes .
