The Rossi house

The Rossi house in Rastatt is named after the architect Domenico Egidio Rossi .

history

The Rossi House was built around 1700 as part of the new palace and the layout of the new residential city of Rastatt by the architect DE Rossi (1659–1715). The Rossi House was built as a gentleman building in the immediate vicinity of the Rastatt Castle of Türkenlouis . It was one of the most valuable private residential buildings in the city.

The district of Rastatt acquired the building in 1962. It served as a representative building for the district of Rastatt and as a meeting building for the district council . Since 1987 the Rossi House has also housed the district archive . In 2008, after the district administration moved to Herrenstrasse, the house became the property of the city of Rastatt, which had it renovated by July 2018. It has been used as a community center since then.
