Federico Di Trocchio
Federico Di Trocchio (born March 30, 1949 in Lenola , † September 3, 2013 in Rome ) was an Italian historian of science . He has taught at the University of Lecce since 1992 (since 2000 as full professor) and most recently, since 2006, at the University "La Sapienza" in Rome.
Di Trocchio was secretary of the Società Italiana di Storia della Scienza from 1999 to 2009. In 2005 he was elected a corresponding member of the Académie internationale d'histoire des sciences .
Di Trocchio is known as a Casanova expert. He was editor for the history of science at the Encyclopedia Italiana di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti ("Treccani") and a contributor to a weekly newspaper (" L'Espresso ").
Di Trocchio became famous for his popular science books on the history of natural sciences, two of which were also translated into German.
