Red week

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As " Red Week " a general introduction week was in the student speech socialist political classes at the beginning of each academic year to DDR - universities designated.

During this time, there were no subject-related lectures, but mostly lectures and seminars on the current political situation, Marxism-Leninism and current political issues were held for all students, regardless of the field of study . As the color of the “ workers' flag ” in the GDR, “red” was a symbol of indoctrination, which was one-sidedly aligned with the SED policy ( see also Red Socks ).

The Red Week was introduced in the GDR from 1961 when the political climate changed after the construction of the Wall on August 13, 1961. This political action week was also carried out at other educational institutions.
