Rotraud von der Heide

Rotraud von der Heide (born February 4, 1942 in Stuttgart ; other name Rotraud Damerau) is a German artist and action artist . She is mainly active in the areas of art in public spaces , social sculpture and fashion drawings .

life and work

Robert von der Heide's daughter attended the state art school in Berlin from 1962 to 1966 , then studied psychology , sociology at the Free University of Berlin and experimental graphics with Helmut Lortz at the Berlin University of the Arts until 1976 . She has been working as a freelance artist since 1976. From 1978 she also taught design at the Lette-Verein Berlin.

Since the 1970s Rotraud von der Heide has been present at exhibitions and group activities, particularly on topics related to women's culture. In the 1980s she took part in the occupation of the " chocolate factory ". In 1983 she was a founding member of the artist group “ Black Chocolate ” and since 2002 she has been a member of the artist group “ Endmoräne ” - artists from Berlin and Brandenburg e. V. In the same year von der Heide took part in the international sculpture symposium “Stones without borders” in Berlin-Buch. Her drawings show a clear line, secure anatomy, liveliness and dynamism. In the late creative period, Rotraud von der Heide expressed her feelings about the world predominantly with sculptures and actions. She lives in Berlin .
