Rowallan House

Rowallan House is a villa near the Scottish village of Kilmaurs in the East Ayrshire Council Area . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

The villa was built between 1903 and 1906 for Cameron Corbett, later Lord Rowallan . The prominent Edinburgh architect Robert Lorimer was responsible for the design made in 1902 . However, the full design was never implemented and construction was previously canceled. Rowallan House is still privately owned to this day.

description

The building is isolated on a spacious property with numerous outbuildings between the towns of Kilmarnock , Kilmaurs and Stewarton . The dramatic composition of the unfinished, northeast-exposed front is emphasized. Decorative stucco and woodwork can be found inside the building. The outer buildings include stables, gardeners' accommodations, a farm, greenhouses and guest houses.
