Georg Lorenz (journalist)

Georg Lorenz (born April 10, 1897 in Pasing , † January 3, 1958 in Munich ) was a German journalist.

After attending high school, Lorenz trained as a businessman in a food factory. He was wounded as a soldier in the First World War . Later he took further training at a workers' college and was an editor at the Herold dispatch office and at the Social Democratic State Parliament Press Service in Munich, where he was later deputy editor-in-chief. He was also a member of the city council of Pasing as a member of the SPD . In 1933 he was arrested and imprisoned in Dachau concentration camp , and later arrested several times. During the Second World War he was a soldier and radio operator . In 1945 he was a co-founder of the Süddeutsche Zeitung . In April 1946 he became the license holder and editor-in - chief of the Hochland-Boten in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he also lived. Lorenz was also a member of the board of directors of the Association of Professional Journalists in Bavaria and was President of the German Peace Society . On December 4, 1947, he was one of the founding members of the Bavarian Senate and was the interim secretary that day. He represented the group of liberal professions until the end of 1949.
