Rowett Island is a small island in the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica . It is located in the northern group of the archipelago , immediately southwest of Cape Lookout , the southern tip of Elephant Island .
The uninhabited island is named after John Quiller Rowett (1874-1924), a British businessman and financier of the Quest Expedition (1921-1922) of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton , which is therefore also known as the "Shackleton Rowett Expedition".
