Roy Ashburn (* 21st March 1954 in Long Beach , California ) is an American politician of the Republican Party .

Life

Ashburn graduated from California State University, Bakersfield . From 1996 to 2002 Ashburn was a member of the California State Assembly, replacing Trice Harvey . From December 2, 2002 to December 5, 2010, Ashburn served as the successor to Jack O'Connell as a Senator in the California Senate . In 2010 Ashburn came out as gay. Ashburn lives in Los Angeles .
