music

Zimmerman's music includes satire on current US politics, society, religious extremism and war . He particularly criticized creationism ("Creation Science") and the foreign and security policy of the USA.

When the evangelical preacher Ted Haggard , known for his fight against homosexuality , was fired from his church in 2006 for "moral misconduct" (he had an affair with a call boy ), Zimmerman took this as an opportunity to write a satirical song entitled Ted Haggard is completely heterosexual .

In April 2020 Zimmerman published a parody of the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight called The Liar Tweets Tonight , which quickly spread on the YouTube video platform and was viewed several million times within a few days. The song deals with the dubious statements made by the incumbent US President Donald Trump on the short message platform Twitter about the COVID-19 pandemic , calls for him to be voted out of the presidential elections in the same year and contains the following lines of text:

“In the White House, the mighty White House The liar tweets tonight In the West Wing, the self-obsessed wing The liar tweets tonight

Vote him away Vote him away Vote him away

He says, "Hush you doctors, hush reporters Hush you science nerds Look, my ratings are through the roof When I just say happy words" ”

Quote

“There's nothing funny about World Peace. Social Justice never killed at the Comedy Store. If we ever attain a worldwide consciousness of peace and justice, I'll be happily out of a job. But as long as there's poverty, war, bigotry, ignorance, greed, lust and paranoia, I've got a career. "

“World peace is not funny. Social justice has never been a hit in the comedy business. If we ever achieve a global awareness of peace and justice, I will happily finish my job. But as long as there is poverty, war, bigotry, ignorance, greed and paranoia, I have a career. "
