Royal Victoria Station

Royal Victoria is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the London Borough of Newham . It is located in tariff zone 3 on Victoria Dock Road in the Canning Town district . The name comes from the now closed Royal Victoria Dock .

The station was opened on March 28, 1994, along with the branch line towards Beckton . The former North London Line , which was closed on December 9, 2006, runs parallel to the DLR line . The trains on this railway line did not stop at Royal Victoria, however, as there was no additional platform. The Tidal Basin train station was once located about 200 meters to the west . It had opened in February 1858 by the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway and was closed on August 15, 1943 because of irreparable damage from aerial bombs.

Since June 28, 2012 there has been a transfer option to the Royal Docks station of the Emirates Air Line Thames gondola .
