The Rua Bernardo Lopes is a street in the city center of the seaside resort of Figueira da Foz .
It leads from Rua Maestra David de Sousa to Avenida 25 de Abril , towards Mondego . Running partly through Bairro Novo , the pedestrianized upper town of Figueira, it is home to a number of cafes , restaurants and retail shops. Also the Casino Figueira and the Casino Oceano are here, which is why they often used to Rua dos casinos was called.
It was laid out in the growing Figueira da Foz at the end of the 19th century, as part of the redesign of the upper town by engineer Silva. It has had its current name, named after Bernardo Augusto Lopes , since 1902 , after it was previously called Rua da Concórdia . Bernardo Lopes was u. a. Director of the Teatro Circo Saraiva de Carvalho , a forerunner of the Casino Figueira, and of the Companhia Edificadora Figueirense , the construction company that carried out the redesign of engineer Silva in Figueira at the end of the 19th century.
