The Rua da República is a street in the center of the seaside resort of Figueira da Foz .

Before it was renamed Rua do Príncipe Real (Street of the Royal Prince), it was originally called Lamas or Casal das Lamas . After the fall of the Portuguese monarchy and the proclamation of the Portuguese Republic on October 5, 1910, the street was renamed Rua da República , Street of the Republic.

It starts at Praça 8 de Maio and ends at the intersection in front of Figueira da Foz train station .

It became a major shopping street in the city. Their importance declined since the 1990s, since various shopping centers outside the city center began to increase their purchasing power .
