Ruairí Robinson

Ruairí Robinson (born February 15, 1978 in Dublin ) is an Irish animator and film director.

Life

Robinson studied graphic design at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin from 1996 to 2000 . The short film The House on Dane Street was created as a thesis in the field of visual communication . Robinson then began working on his first 3D animated film, Fifty Percent Gray , which was completed in six months and released in 2001. Robinson acted as a director, screenwriter and animator. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film in 2002 . As part of the American series The Animation Show , the film was also released on DVD.

Robinson remained first in the 3D animation and was active in the following years in the film and advertising industry, so he was also the film Breakfast on Pluto involved as a 3D animator and created a partially animated commercial for Kellogg's Special K . With The Silent City was until 2006 Robinsons first short fiction in which, among other things, Cillian Murphy starred. After his second short film BlinkyTM from 2011, Robinson finally made his first full-length film in 2013: The science fiction thriller The Last Days on Mars was shown in 2013 as part of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes International Film Festival .
