production
Fifty Percent Gray was created within six months with a budget of 10,000 euros. Robinson only developed the idea for the film at short notice after producer Seamus Byrne had drawn his attention to a film grant, the application period for which would have expired in 14 days - within two weeks Robinson had conceived the plot and completed the first storyboards, which he would use with the grant could implement.
The film has been shown at over 70 film festivals.
Awards
Fifty Percent Gray was in 2002 for an Oscar in the category " animated Best Short Film nomination," but could not against the Birds prevail.
The film won the Best Animated Short Film Award at the London Effects and Animation Festival. The film received the Youth Jury Prize at the Dresden Film Festival .
In 2003 it was also nominated for an IFTA Award at the Irish Film and Television Awards for Best Animated Film.
