Rubén Abarca Silva (* 1960 ), also known by the nickname La Chiclosa (The Gummy Bear) , is a former Mexican soccer player who mainly played in midfield . Today Abarca runs an agency for models and hostesses .

career

Abarca joined Club America at the age of 14, where he received his first professional contract in 1979 . Abarca made his debut in the Mexican Primera División on November 15, 1979 in a home game against Unión de Curtidores , which was won 3-1. For his third use in the top division he came on February 24, 1980 in a Súper Clásico against arch-rivals Chivas Guadalajara . In this game Abarca not only scored his first goal in the Primera División, but also received his nickname La Chiclosa (The Gummy Bear) because he had "cheated" through the opponent's defense immediately in front of his goal "as flexible as a gummy bear".

But even in his second season in 1980/81 Abarca was rarely used and therefore he moved to league rivals CD Tampico before the 1981/82 season . There he completed 14 missions, but did not make it to become a regular player and therefore he moved again after a year. At his next station, Atlas Guadalajara , he managed to jump into the regular formation and he completed 32 missions in which he scored two hits.

In the summer of 1983 he returned to Club America, with whom he won the championship twice in a row in the two following seasons (1983/84 and 1984/85) . He then moved to city rivals CF Atlante , where he let his active career end.
