Ruben Popa (born March 22, 1989 ) is a Romanian football player . He has been playing for FC Pipinsried in the Bayern League since January 2015 .

Career

At the age of nine Ruben Popa trained in his Romanian homeland in the youth center of the second division UTA Arad , at twelve he moved to the club's boarding school. Another three years later he joined the third division club CS Național Sebiş . Originally he was supposed to play for a Romanian second division team, but he went to Germany, where his father had settled in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm as a self-employed craftsman.

Popa played for a year at the regional league club FC Schweitenkirchen and made contacts with SSV Jahn Regensburg . From 2009 he played for the U-23 of the Upper Palatinate in the state league. In the first two years, the dribbling striker scored 14 goals this season and in the 2011/12 season he was also included in the Jahn third division team for the first time. On matchday 13 he made his professional debut when he was substituted on in the final minutes at a 0-1 deficit at Preußen Münster . It was his only use for the first team because a cruciate ligament rupture put him out of action for the rest of the season. At the end of the season, the first team rose through relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga, the U-23 qualified for the new double-track Bayernliga. After Regensburg's relegation, he received a professional contract for the 2013/14 season . Popa SSV Jahn Regensburg left for the 2014/2015 season. In January 2015, FC Pipinsried signed him .
